Reopening Update - Impact of Feb 25 Announcement

On February 25, 2021 MA Gov. Charlie Baker announced that the state will move into Phase 3, Step 2 of its reopening plan on Monday March 1, including indoor performance venues and recreational activities.

In this phase of reopening Massachusetts, venues including concert halls, theaters, and other indoor performance spaces are allowed to reopen at 50% capacity.

While this sounds like very welcome news to TCAN's audience, the detailed safety standards for theaters and performance venues published on mass.gov following the announcement include restrictions that include the following:

  • Singing is not permitted in any indoor performance venues
  • Playing of brass and wind instruments is discouraged

Unfortunately, these restrictions severely limit TCAN's ability to move forward with any regularly scheduled performances at the present time.

TCAN monitors guidance from local health authorities on a daily basis and will keep our audience informed about our plans to resume live performances. Meanwhile, changes to schedule dates of previously confirmed performances will be announced by email to current ticket holders, and posted on our website on this list of Rescheduled and Postponed Performances.

We are as anxious as you are to enjoy live music again, and we are doing our best to sustain the organization during this challenging time. If you'd like to assist TCAN, please see this list of Ten Ways You Can Support TCAN Now.

Be safe and healthy!
