The Center for Arts in Natick (TCAN) brings the excitement of the arts into the MetroWest community by providing a vibrant concert venue and community center featuring live music, dance, theater and visual art.

TCAN provides a cultural focus where established artists and talented newcomers present performances, literary events and art exhibitions in a cultural environment that brings together individuals and families, children and seniors. All are welcome, and all who enter benefit from exposure to the arts in this creative and interactive environment.

An active, adventuresome program of live performance emerges as the artistic core of TCAN.

Over 250 performances are staged each year, presented in Natick's own historic Summer Street Firehouse originally constructed in 1875 and newly restored as an intimate concert venue featuring 280 seats, new state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment, automated ticketing system, teaching facilities, art gallery and indoor café.

Performances at TCAN span virtually all artistic styles, including Blues and Jazz, Classical, Rock/Pop, Ethnic and World Music, Folk and Traditional, Bluegrass and Country, a wide variety of Theatre and Dance productions, and several popular Youth Theatre and Improvisation programs. TCAN hosts performers as varied as George Winston, Livingston Taylor, Patty Larkin, Jay Geils, vocalist Carol O'Shaughnessy, Aztec Two-Step, Rory Block, a capella group Cadence, the Lydian String Quartet, and many more to come.

TCAN supports the development of local performance artists through the sponsorship of several community-based programs including Folk/ Acoustic Open Mic, Rock Off Main Street featuring local teen rock talent, and Vox Pop Open Mic, TCAN's own version of American Idol.

The acclaimed TCAN Players community theatre offers drama, comedy and musical productions.

Children's theatre and improv programs are presented by The Pocket Full Of Tales Theater Company led by Kristy Pace. Children's dance programs are offered by professional dance artist Carol Schneider-Sereda.

These popular programs provide creative opportunities for education and collaboration among artists, as well as providing emotional performances before live audiences. Participation is open to the public.

TCAN is home to a dynamic Visual Arts program serving the MetroWest community by coordinating artistic exhibits by local and regional artisans, and supporting many satellite galleries located in local business and retail locations. Gallery opportunities are considered from all established and emerging artists.

To promote artistic creativity and learning, TCAN hosts several visual art programs including juried art shows, weekly portrait groups, mentoring programs and open studio sessions.

TCAN is a non-profit organization staffed by local musicians, artisans and volunteers. Operations are funded by ticket sales, membership fees and underwriting support. An ongoing capital campaign provides contribution opportunities to develop and expand TCAN facilities. All performances and programs are open to the public. TCAN membership benefits include preferred seating, discounts on products and services from local merchants, tickets, TCAN merchandise, and so much more.

To help fulfill its mission of reaching the widest possible audience for the arts, TCAN offers specially-priced tickets to students and senior citizens. TCAN is designed to be fully accessible to persons with disabilities and provides full accommodation to handicapped patrons.

TCAN provides the MetroWest area with an opportunity to actively participate in community enrichment through the arts, and a place to meet and make new friends sharing an interest in music, theatre and visual arts for the enjoyment of all.
