Children's Dance Theatre is perfect
for the child who likes to fly around the living room while listening
to music...kids who spend afternoons pretending to be fairy princesses
or wizards casting magical spells.... kids who love movement and imagination!
Kids who dance learn to organize their bodies and minds by combining
creative expression and technique. By relating movement to stories and
images familiar to children, these popular classes encourage control
and expression while children experience the fun of creative play.
Our youngest dancers can experience the joyous discovery of creative
movement, followed by classes in ballet and jazz/modern. Beginning/Intermediate Modern dance is also offered for adults. All classes
encourage self-expression, cooperation, sound dance technique and physical
imagination. |

Carol Schneider-Sereda has been the director of Children's Dance Theatre at TCAN for almost 10 years. A dancer since she was nine years old, Carol started teaching dance in 1980 and has specialized in dance with younger students for the past fourteen years. Carol teaches for Boston Ballet in Boston and Metrowest locations and has set up dance programs for preschoolers at the All Newton Music School, The Newton Arts Center, Walnut Hill School and TCAN.
Ms. Schneider-Sereda has had early training in ballet and has toured internationally as a modern dancer. Her approach to teaching children uses their natural joy and creativity to release the physical form as an expressive communicator. Her original program design uses costumes, musical instruments and props to add fun and creativity by interpreting dance stories and ideas through movement. |
