| The
arts have been proven to play an important role in building
community by:
* Helping individuals and groups find their voice and public expression
* Providing a positive example of the power found in diversity, and
the shared interests of a diverse community
* Hosting meaningful social exchanges between volunteers and mentors,
artists and audiences
* Inspiring pride in our culture and community
* Acting as a catalyst for economic growth and community development
* Providing exposure to the arts and supplementary arts education
for young children
If arts education is to prepare children for their part as
future leaders, it takes the contributions of corporate leaders today. Numerous
studies prove students who receive instruction in the arts as part
of their school curriculum are more disciplined, more creative and
more involved in the learning process. As school budgets are tightened
and programs are cut, it is crucial to take a more proactive role
in preserving arts education.
Teachers
and parents have long known that the arts transform children's
lives,
develop invaluable reasoning skills and provide a catalyst for
positive social interaction in addition to improving academic performance
and standardized test scores.
While TCAN receives tax relief as
an authorized nonprofit organization, we receive less than $1,000 each year from Federal and State grants
to underwrite programs and operations. Ticket sales cover only
60% of our total operating budget, which includes a substantial debt
that
remains from the $2.5M capital restoration of Natick's Central Firehouse
facility.
Your customers will appreciate your support of the arts and community,
