Summer Theater Workshops


A boutique style theatre workshop, for students of all experience levels. Each class is a unique, small group experience where every child receives organic, process based training in the theatre arts from experienced performing artists. Workshops are a space to explore, experiment, and engage in the performing arts, through stories inspired by popular classics; adapted specifically for young performers by a team of international composers and our in-house playwright/ director.

Jul 9 - 13 - Knight of the Waterlilies
A brave frog and his lily pad loving friends, teach a Queen and her court a valuable lesson about protecting nature and seeing the world outside of your own front door.

Inspired by everyone’s favorite adventure...starring the Lion, the Tinman, the Scarecrow, Dorothy, Toto, the Witches, the Munchkins and those silly Flying Monkeys! Join us for an Original Musical Adaptation celebrating this classic story. With live shows on Friday before the end of each class.

Jul 23 - 27 - Mary Poppins
When super nanny Mary Poppins flies in with her umbrella, she uses imagination, cleverness, and charm to bring happiness to the Banks children adn their parents, a chimney sweep, and several other neighborhood characters, putting all to right with the aid of her rather extraordinary magic powers.

Jul 30 - Aug 3 - Night at the Museum
Inspired by the hit movie, we've crafted a tale all our own with an original script and music of a museum guard whose exhibits come to life after dark to bicker and compete over who's the most important exhibit. But none of it will matter if they can't come together to help the guard save the museum from bankruptcy by putting on the best "surprise living art gala" the cuty has ever seen.

Aug 6 - 10 - Pippi Longstockings
Pippi lives at home with her monkey and her horse, while her father sails the seven seas. She has a lot to learn from her new neighbors about behaving like a proper young child but in the meantime she'll take her friends on some of the most marvelous adventures, teaching them that if you believe in yourself anything is possible.

Aug 13 -17 - The King's Stilts
A Dr. Seuss classic inspires this musical. The King and his cats only job is to protect their island home from a fiesty flock of birds who like to eat the trees that hold the water back. But when the King loses his favorite pair of stilts, they get distracted and the birds begin to take over, can anyone stop the birds and save the island? You'll have to join us to see.

Aug 20 - 24 - A Cricket in Times Square
A story about a poor little cricket, who ends up in NYC after climbing into a picnic basket. Lucky for him, the family who owns the basket lets him live in their newspaper stand in the subway. Here he makes some new cat and mice friends, and gets discovered by a music critic.




For half-day workshops, please have your child bring a nut-free snack and a water bottle. For full-day workshops, your child must bring a nut-free lunch, two nut-free snacks and a water bottle. Your child should be dressed in clothes that can get messy! Upon registration, download an Emergency Information Form at the bottom of this page and bring the completed form with you to the first day of class. All workshops are grouped by age and taught by professional theater artists. Refunds for summer workshops will be granted only if notification is given no later than May 18. There is a $10 administration fee for all refunds. Prorated fees/partial attendance is not available.


Kristy Pace is the Director of TCAN's Theater Education Programs and founder of The Pocket Full of Tales Theatre Company. Her experience in teaching dramatic arts and directing children's theater includes successful productions at the Worcester Children's Theater, The Fiddlehead Theater Company, Kidstock Creative Theater Education Center, Theater After Hours, and dozens of theatre programs for pre-school, elementary and secondary school children in Massachusetts, North Carolina and Los Angeles. Kristy earned her Master's Degree in Theatre Education from Emerson College, and holds an MA Teaching Certificate in Communications and Performing Arts for grades K-12. Kristy has performed in and directed live theater throughout New England and in Los Angeles since 1984.
