Walnut
Hill School continues the series of youth art exhibits with “Cubism Reversed”.The
dates of the show are April 10th to 23rd. The reception
is Thursday, April 12th , 4:00 to 6:00. The public is encouraged
to come to the reception and meet the artists.
The
exhibition highlights constructions made in art instructor, Ken Tighe’s
3D Mixed Media Class. Each student selected as their source a famous Cubist
painting by a well-known
historical artist. These art students were challenged to reconstruct [and
reinterpret]
the image into a sculptural work of art.
Jim
Woodside, Art Department Chairman, describes Walnut Hills’ Viual Arts
program as being a studio environment where students hone their technical
skills and simultaneously develop a sense of content, or purpose in their
artwork. The students learn
to discuss their work, articulate their ideas, and ultimately identify
goals and challenges in their own art work. Students learn to see the
study and practice of visual arts as a way of creating ideas and symbols,
a way of developing a personal language.
