In Celebration of Trees
A Juried Art Show at The Center for Arts in Natick
Show runs Oct. 7 Nov. 7, artists' reception Oct. 16, 46:30 p.m.

Trees have been the subject of all forms of art and myth throughout history, and October in New England offers prime opportunities to admire and enjoy their beauty. During this traditional "leaf-peeping" season, The Center for Arts in Natick (TCAN) presents In Celebration of Trees, an exhibition bringing artists and the viewing public together to ponder their importance, experiencing them through fresh perspectives. The jury invites Metrowest artists to submit one or two works of original, two-dimensional art; TCAN membership is not required. Interested artists should obtain a copy of the prospectus through ARTGOODS (29 Main Street, Natick, MA, 508.653.0659), The Frame Shop and Gallery (5 Main Street, Natick, MA, 508.651.1551), or through the web at www.natickarts.org/gallery/info/info.html.

The Bakery on the Common (9 North Main Street, Natick, MA, 508.655.9992), TCAN's first Satellite Gallery, will also celebrates trees during the month of October with an exhibition of paintings by Susan Cohen Thompson. Monthly art exhibitions at The Bakery on the Common are managed for the Bakery and artists by volunteers from TCAN.

A reception for the artists will be held at The Center for Arts in Natick, 31 Main Street, Natick, on Saturday, October 16, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The show will run through November 7th. In the past year, TCAN has shown the work of more than 120 area artists in 17 gallery shows.

The gallery is normally open from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free. Please call to double-check these hours, as the gallery is staffed by volunteers. The art can also be viewed during musical and spoken word performances at the Center, evenings Tuesday through Sunday. Ticket prices for these events vary. For more information about TCAN events, call 508.647.0097 or visit the center's Web site, www.natickarts.org.
